Mary Lou Johnson
January 22, 1909 - April 12, 1977
The daughter of Edna D. (Sullivan) and Burke L. Johnson, she was born in Kenton and was a resident of Hardin County all her life.
Mary Lou graduated from Kenton High School in 1926 and received her Bachelor's Degree from Wells College in Aurora, New York, and her Master's Degree in social administration from Ohio State University.
Her hobbies included basketball, tennis, bridge, and crossword puzzles. Her activities included: the Hardin County District Library, where she served for 21 years as a member and officer of the Library Board and was the leading force behind the construction of this Library building; the Hardin County Heart Association; Kenton Newcomers Club; Fort Nightly Literary Club; President and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Kenton National Bank; University Club; and Hardin Memorial Hospital Guild.
Following her death in 1977, the Hardin County District Library was renamed in her honor.
