FAQ

Library Patron Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost to sign up for a card?

It's completely FREE! If you lose your library card there is a $2 replacement fee. Signing up the first time is completely free.

Do I have to bring my card with me every time?

Yes, please! By presenting your card for every checkout, you help make sure that your account stays safe and no one gets to use it without your permission.

Can my children get a library card?

Of course they can. Any resident of Ohio, no matter their age, is eligible to become a card holder with us.

Is there a probationary period?

Yes; for the first 90 days of being a library patron you can only have 3 items checked out to you, and are not eligible to borrow mobile hotspots or submit interlibrary loan requests.

How many items can I borrow when my probation ends?

After your probationary period, you can have up to 50 items out at the sametime, but you still have to pay attention to the item type limits. For example, you can only have 5 DVDs regardless of how long you have been a patron in good standing.

Does the library charge overdue fines?

Yes, we do. With the exception of senior citizens, all library card holders are charged overdue fines for materials not returned on/before their due dates. Senior citizens are still charged for overdue DVDs.

What happens if I return a damaged item?

If an item is returned too badly damaged for us to continue keeping it in our collection, you may be billed for the full cost of replacing it.

What if I lose my library card?

Anybody who loses their library card is obligated to let us know and purchase a replacement card which costs $2.

Do I need my card to use the computers?

Yes, you do. If you would like to use a library computer, simply log in with your library card number and pin to do so.

Can I renew items?

Of course! You can renew items eligible for renewal through your account via our website. Or you can  just call us and we will gladly renew items. We will not renew items if there is another patron waiting for them or you have exhausted the renewals for that item.

How do I return my items if you are closed?

Returning materials is easy, and you can do it 24/7! If the library is closed, just put your returns (except for hotspots) in one of our exterior book drops, located on the front and side of the building. The side drop is a drive-through book drop located in the alley adjacent to the library.
