Edit Existing Content

When you are logged into your site, most of your content will display an "Edit" link just below the title.

This link will take you to a form where you can edit the page you are on.

Content that doesn't have an Edit Link

Pages that are made up of lists of content, such as the News, Events and Collection landing pages, do not have Edit links because they are not really "pages" that can be edited.

To edit the content on these pages, you need to get to the individual node for the item you want to edit.  

"Node" is the Drupal word for a specific piece of content. A news item, or event, is entered into the site as an inidivudal item. This item is a node.

One option is to click through using the "more information" links or clicking on the title. 

Another option is to navigate to the administrative view that lists all content on your site.

Managing how content displays in a list

The pages that show lists of content are displaying two key pieces of information from the full node:  

  • The "Main Image" 
  • The "Summary"

Main Image becomes a thumbnail that appears in the list display.

Summary is created from the Body field. If no summary is manually specified, the site will automatically take the first 200 characters (spaces included) from the body content.

To control what appears in the summary, use the "Edit Summary" link next to the word "Body" at the top of the body field.

Remember to save!

Any edit you make to your content is temporary until you press the Save button at the bottom of the edit form.

Revisions of your edits will be stored, so you can easily revert  [documentation link coming soon] to a previous version if you dislike your edits.
